Extraordinary new application for PFM. PFM, in cooperation with Multivac Chile and Salmones Pacífico Sur, probably the most important world producer of salmons, has
got ready a new version of the horizontal wrapper mod. Ghibli for high speed wrapping of fresh or frozen salmons using various types of film
for different marketing demands.
Ghibli is a wrapping machine that can wrap salmons with low-density polyethylene, print registered polypropylene and laminates for modified
atmosphere but that is not it. In 5 minutes the dies can be replaced and the Ghibli is ready to be joined with a vacuum chamber or with the exclusive PFM Up&Down system to create vacuum bags.
Ghibli proves to be perfect for this specific application for the following reasons:
It has a cantilevered Box Motion style transverse sealing system,
accessible from the operator's side driven by two
independent brushless motors ensuring accuratesetting of dwell and sealing
pressure.
The cantilevered structure is made out of AISI 304 stainless with radial angles
and the electrical cabinet with IP67 protection shelters mechanical and
electronic components from the outside environment. PFM's great experience
matured in 20 years of specialization in cheese wrapping is evident
even in this application. Infact Ghibli is not only perfectly protected but easy to clean as well. This guarantees durability and hygiene, essential
elements to wrap salmon.
The ECR system allows Ghibli to work in either an LVA mode, in which the bag length is automatically set as a function of the product length, or in "print registration" mode, in which the film is kept in registration using pre-printed spots on the wrapping material. For example, it is possible to
wrap whole salmons with variable length or salmon fillets of almost constant length by using polyethylene or polypropylene without
replacement of any mechanical component or sealing system.
The extraordinary quality of its sealing systems allows Ghibli to package up
to 35-45 (L. 600 mm) whole salmons per minute and to increase its production with salmon fillets having a shorter length.
